Catch a Wave to First Grade

Soooo....what a great start to this school year! Today was such a great day; everything went so smoothly. As I'm getting older, I am becoming an early bird. After having to set my alarm for 5:00 am last year in order to get to school, my body just seems to wake up earlier than it used to. This is a good thing, because I don't like to be late, well maybe just fashionably late...But not to school. So, for this morning I set my alarm for 5:15 with an intention to wake up at 5:30. But after my alarm rang at 5:15, I decided to go ahead a get up- now, please remember that my school last year was a 30 minute drive-this year it is a 2 minute drive when the lights are red...so I'm still not sure why I set my alarm so early. I guess I just wanted to have plenty of cushion time, incase there was a train or something..yeah right. So, I'm dressed and ready by 6:10...how nice that extra few minutes of sleep would have been. I was planning to go to school around 6:30 to have atleast an hour to get everything squared away for today. So I had a cup of coffee at home, which means I had two total this morning..WIRED..So I arrive at school around 6:30 to find no one there by one of our wonderful janitors. So, I walk on in thinking someone has to be coming soon. And finally they did, but I did feel like I had the school to myself for a little while!

Finally the kiddos arrived! And I'll have you to know that I should never need to purchase sticky notes, Lysol wipes, or kleenex again! My students were so on top of bringing all of their school supplies. I am very impressed. Aside from that, I am very impressed with my class for their behavior today. They all seemed to listen very well and pick up on procedures so nicely. I feel like I have entered a whole new world as compared to previous situations! The day went so smoothly, and I can only hope the rest of the year will be as good. Prayers really do get answered. I even was able to leave school a little before 4:00, and I am ready for tomorrow!

After school, I came home to catch my breath. I went on a little walk this evening, and have been relaxing ever since. My anxieties are gone for now, and I this I am thankful for. I can't wait for school tomorrow. I pray that it will be as good as today!

Blessings for Today:
1. A wonderful first day of school
2. Anxieties going away
3. Energy to make it through the day
